Flash Sale Finds & Styling Secrets: What We Learned on Style It Live
Hello, hello, hello, Joanna here from Kings Road, welcoming you to another exciting episode of Style It Live - this post is a replay of our weekly Friday Style It Live Session on Facebook. You can watch the replay on YouTube HERE and join us live every Friday at 5.30pm here   If there’s one thing we’ve learned this season, it’s that British weather likes to keep us guessing. One week we're melting in 30-degree sunshine. The next, we're reaching for jackets and wondering if summer has packed up and gone home. Luckily, the wardrobe heroes featured in this week's Style It Live are ready for absolutely anything. And even better? Many of them are currently included in our Flash Sale, with up to 25% off selected clothing and 10% off footwear for a limited time. But first... WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Hardest-Working Pieces in Your Wardrobe One of the questions we asked during the live was: What has worked hardest in your wardrobe this season? The answers were surprisingly consistent: Lightweight jackets Easy dresses Relaxed trousers Soft knitwear Versatile shirts In other words, pieces that can adapt as quickly as the forecast. Our advice? Invest in styles that layer beautifully. The best wardrobes aren't built around individual outfits—they're built around pieces that work together. Styling Tip #1: Think in Layers, Not Seasons The old rule of packing away your spring wardrobe and bringing out your summer wardrobe doesn't really work anymore. A lightweight denim jacket, soft knit blazer or relaxed waistcoat can transform a summer dress into a practical everyday outfit. Try: A floaty dress + denim jacket + trainers Wide-leg trousers + lightweight knit + sandals A co-ord layered with a relaxed jacket for cooler mornings You'll get far more wear from every piece. Styling Tip #2: Don't Fear a Matching Set Jo's Fransa co-ord proved once again why matching sets have become wardrobe MVPs. The beauty of a co-ord is that you instantly have: A complete outfit Two separates Multiple styling options Wear together for effortless polish or split them up to create countless new looks. Fashion maths at its finest. Styling Tip #3: The Secret to Making Sale Pieces Work The best sale buys aren't necessarily the boldest. They're the pieces that slot straight into what you already own. Before buying, ask: "Can I style this three different ways?" If the answer is yes, you've probably found a winner. A crochet knit with denim.A printed skirt with a simple tee.A statement blouse with white trousers. Easy wins.       Styling Tip #4: Let One Piece Do the Talking The Traffic People dress featured during the live is a perfect example. When a dress has beautiful print, movement and shape, you don't need much else. Add: Great earrings Simple sandals A relaxed jacket if needed Done. No overthinking required.   Styling Tip #5: Trainers Belong With Everything We said what we said. Modern trainers aren't just for casual days anymore. Pair them with: Dresses Midi skirts Linen trousers Tailored separates Comfort and style can absolutely coexist. Your feet will thank you.     The Great Hot Shorts Debate A surprisingly passionate discussion emerged during the live about whether hot shorts should make a comeback. The audience response? Mostly horrified laughter. The consensus seemed to be: ✔️ Relaxed shorts? Yes.✔️ Tailored longer-length shorts? Absolutely.✔️ Hot shorts? Proceed with caution. We'll leave that one with you.   Don't Miss the Flash Sale The Flash Sale was originally launched during our Open Days event, but the response was so good we've extended it. You'll find: Up to 25% off selected clothing 10% off all footwear Both in-store and online, until June 12. Some pieces are already down to their final sizes, so if you've been eyeing something up, now is probably the moment. Summer Tops You Can Actually Wear in Real Life (Without Immediately Reaching for a Cardigan)

Summer Tops You Can Actually Wear in Real Life (Without Immediately Reaching for a Cardigan)
Hello, hello, hello, Joanna here from Kings Road, welcoming you to another exciting episode of Style It Live - this post is a replay of our weekly Friday Style It Live Session on Facebook. You can watch the replay on YouTube HERE and join us live every Friday at 5.30pm here At last. Summer has officially clocked in. And not fake summer either!  Not the kind where you optimistically leave the house in linen and return home hypothermic three hours later. We mean proper summer. Sunshine. Warm evenings. Courtyard weather. Flip-flop weather. Naturally, here at Kings Road Fashions, we responded in the only reasonable way possible: by talking about tops for an entire evening. But not just fashion tops. Not “stand perfectly still and don’t spill hummus on it” tops. We’re talking: breathable tops flattering tops work-to-evening tops holiday-packing tops “I don’t know what to wear” tops and those magical tops that somehow make your existing trousers feel brand new. But first... WATCH THE VIDEO HERE The Golden Rule of Occasion Dressing: “Effortless, but make it intentional” This session’s unspoken motto was clear: nobody wants to look overdone, but nobody wants to look like they’ve “just popped out for bread” either (unless it’s a very chic sourdough situation). The trick? Elevated fabrics, easy silhouettes, and pieces that behave well from car seat to cocktail hour. The Great Summer Styling Secret? Start with the top. Most women come into the boutique saying:“I just need a couple of tops.” And honestly? Fair enough. Because a great top does heavy lifting. A fresh white cotton blouse suddenly revives old jeans.A soft linen shell transforms plain navy trousers.A printed blouse makes black workwear feel less “corporate spreadsheet” and more “woman who owns expensive olives.” The right top changes the whole mood. White Tops: The Unsung Heroes of Summer If summer wardrobes had a cast list, the white top would be the reliable best friend who quietly solves everyone’s problems. White works with:✔ prints✔ linen✔ denim✔ colour✔ neutrals✔ “I got dressed in seven minutes” mornings Our advice?Own several. Not identical ones — that would be unhinged even for us — but variations: sleeveless textured cottons soft tees crisp shirts airy voile blouses relaxed linen layers A good white top is basically fashion paracetamol. Linen: Wrinkled but Wonderful Now let’s address the linen conversation. Yes, it creases.Yes, you will sit down once and immediately look “artistically rumpled.” But honestly? That’s part of the charm. Linen says:“I summer in Europe.”Even if you’re actually in Milton Keynes eating a supermarket meal deal. Styling tip:Balance relaxed linen with sharper pieces.A structured waistcoat over wide linen trousers keeps things polished instead of “accidental allotment chic.”       The “Desk to Rosé” Wardrobe Gone are the days of completely separate wardrobes for work and weekends. Now we want: one outfit multiple purposes minimal ironing maximum compliments Soft printed shirts, elevated jersey tops and lightweight co-ords are perfect for this. Especially on Zoom calls. Because from the waist up?You look like the CEO of a Scandinavian design company. From the waist down?Possibly elasticated shorts and one slipper. And honestly, we support that.   Co-ords: For Women Who Can’t Be Bothered to Make Decisions Summer styling becomes significantly easier when somebody else has already matched the outfit for you. Co-ords are brilliant because: they look instantly polished you can wear them together or separately with basics and they create approximately 47 outfits from 3 pieces This is what we call:“capsule wardrobe maths.” Very technical.     The Trouser Situation We need to discuss trousers briefly because frankly they deserve their own fan club. A good trouser changes posture, confidence and occasionally personality. This season we’re loving: barrel legs soft crops relaxed tailoring fluid wide legs soft cotton textures And importantly:tops are shorter again. Not tiny. Not “early 2000s trauma.”Just balanced. Wider trousers need proportion, so shorter boxier tops often work beautifully. HOWEVER. If you prefer longer tops, fear not.   Final Thoughts  At one point during the live, while discussing summer blouses, somebody researched the origins of “Adam’s Ale,” someone else forgot the phrase “sandwich bag,” and we nearly abandoned fashion entirely to become a comedy duo. So in many ways, the evening perfectly captured summer dressing itself: a little bit chaotic,a little bit relaxed, and much more enjoyable when you stop overthinking it. The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is clothes that let you enjoy your life. Clothes you can wear to lunch, work, drinks, holidays, garden parties, poetry nights, supermarket trips and spontaneous courtyard soirées. And ideally…tops that don’t require a granny cardigan. Style It Live: Event Wear Edit
Hello, hello, hello, Joanna here from Kings Road, welcoming you to another exciting episode of Style It Live - this post is a replay of our weekly Friday Style It Live Session on Facebook. You can watch the replay on YouTube HERE and join us live every Friday at 5.30pm here Friday nights with Joanna from Kings Road and Debbie on camera are less “quiet style consultation” and more “fashion advice meets friendly chaos in real time”. Somewhere between discussing occasion outfits and wondering whether we’ve all been to a duck race expecting actual ducks, a surprisingly useful styling philosophy emerges: life is full of events… so your wardrobe should be ready for all of them. From Wimbledon to weddings, poetry nights to pub garden music sets, the brief is the same: look like yourself, just slightly more elevated—preferably without needing an instruction manual and definitely without sacrificing comfort. But first... WATCH THE VIDEO HERE. The Golden Rule of Occasion Dressing: “Effortless, but make it intentional” This session’s unspoken motto was clear: nobody wants to look overdone, but nobody wants to look like they’ve “just popped out for bread” either (unless it’s a very chic sourdough situation). The trick? Elevated fabrics, easy silhouettes, and pieces that behave well from car seat to cocktail hour. Brands that carried the night included a beautifully curated mix: Traffic People bringing airy prints and co-ords that whisper “I’m relaxed” while quietly screaming “I understand style” Mama B delivering soft tailoring that feels like loungewear but looks like you’ve made an effort (the dream) PSophia proving that dramatic sleeves and sculptural dresses are, in fact, a personality trait Bize adding that “special event energy” for weddings, races, and general life milestones Rundholz for those who prefer their elegance with a side of artistic edge Maruchi for soft structure and clever layering that does the heavy lifting for you Jane Lushka for dresses and separates that move beautifully (and forgive dessert)   Dressing for your social calendar (even if your social calendar is “uncertain but optimistic”) The beauty of this collection was its flexibility. One outfit could easily cover: A wedding A race day A poetry night where you might have to read something profound Or a spontaneous “let’s sit in a garden with a drink and pretend it’s summer” The secret? Co-ords and mix-and-match separates. Because nothing says “I have my life together” like owning trousers that work with three different tops and none of them technically matching—but all of them looking intentional. Styling tips from the Style It Live school of fashion 1. If in doubt, add textureEmbroidery, crinkle fabrics, subtle sheen—anything that catches the light is doing more work than you are. Let it. 2. Co-ords are basically fashion shortcutsA matching set from Traffic People or Mama B gives instant “put together” energy. Break them up later and pretend you planned it all along. 3. One statement piece per outfit is enoughA sculptural sleeve, a bold print, or a dramatic wide-leg trouser—pick your fighter. Not all of them at once unless you’re headlining something. 4. Dresses are never just dressesA flowing piece from Bize or PSophia can go from “Chelsea Flower Show elegant” to “garden party casual” with nothing more than a shoe swap and a strategic bag choice. 5. Comfortable can still be dangerous (in a good way)Elasticated waists, soft tailoring, and breathable fabrics mean you can survive an 8-hour event and still look like you arrived fresh. No one needs to know the truth. The real takeaway: style is situational… and slightly chaotic Between the rails of elegant trousers, floaty dresses, and “this could go to a race or a very fancy sandwich lunch”, one truth kept surfacing: clothes should work as hard as your diary does. And if your diary includes nothing more glamorous than a beer garden, a coffee, or a spontaneous duck race (plastic ducks only, unfortunately), then frankly—you still deserve a good outfit. Because as Joe and Debbie proved, fashion isn’t really about perfection. It’s about having something fabulous to wear while you misidentify strangers, laugh too loudly into a microphone, and confidently commit to plans that may or may not involve cake. And honestly? That’s the best kind of styling advice there is. Stay tuned: more deliveries, more surprises, more je ne sais quoi coming soon.   Love,Kings Road Fashions SHOP NEW SEASON ARRIVALS HERE SHOP EVENT WEAR EDIT HERE ____ Stay Connected:Follow Kings Road Fashions on Instagram and Facebook for daily boutique style inspiration and join us for Style It Live sessions on Facebook, every Friday 5.30pm. 💌 Sign up to our newsletter for exclusive previews + 10% off your first order ••• FACEBOOK INSTAGRAM YOUTUBE   Our Boutique: Leighton Buzzard Boutique 7 Peacock Mews Leighton Buzzard LU7 1JH Hours: Tue -Sat: 9.30am - 5.00pm Sun - Mon: Closed Telephone: 01525 376788

Natural Fabrics, Zero Drama: Your Summer Wardrobe Sorted
Hello, hello, hello, Joanna here from Kings Road, welcoming you to another exciting episode of Style It Live - this post is a replay of our weekly Friday Style It Live Session on Facebook. Join us live every Friday at 5.30pm here If you missed this week’s Style It Live, don’t worry—we’ve got you. Think of this as your stylish little catch-up (minus the giggles, which are impossible to recreate in writing, but we’ll do our best). But first... WATCH OUR LATEST VIDEO ON YOUTUBE If summer dressing usually leaves you choosing between looking good and not overheating, we have excellent news: you can, in fact, have both. Welcome to the world of natural fabrics—linen and cotton that breathe, move, and generally behave like they’ve got your best interests at heart. Why Natural Fabrics Win (Every Time) Let’s be honest:Synthetic fabrics in summer = regret. Natural fabrics: Let your skin breathe Don’t cling in unfortunate places Get better with wear (like a fine wine, or your tolerance for British weather) The Dresses: Effortless, Not Thoughtless A good summer dress should do three things: Skim (never cling) Breathe (non-negotiable) Work for multiple occasions Styling tip: Add gold jewellery → instantly dinner-ready Add trainers or sandals → daytime chic Add a linen jacket → “I planned this” energy Pockets? Even better. We love a dress that multitasks. The Tops: Shape Matters Enter the magic of angles. Tops like the Grace style use subtle shaping to: Elongate your silhouette Avoid cutting you across the middle Flatter without trying too hard Styling tip:Pair a slightly oversized top with slimmer trousers—or flip it and go wide-leg below for balance. The Trousers: Comfort, But Make It Chic Elasticated waistbands. Yes, really. And no, they’re not just for Sundays. Modern linen and cotton trousers: Sit well Move beautifully Look polished without effort Styling tip: Cropped trousers + sandals = easy summer uniform Full-length linen + shirt = relaxed sophistication Go tonal (same colour top + bottom) for instant polish Colour: Go Bold or Go Neutral (Or Both) This season is doing the most—in the best way. You’ve got: Rich jewel tones (sangria, sapphire, turquoise) Soft neutrals (sand, ecru, biscuit… yes, biscuit) Styling tip: Mix colour with neutral to keep it wearable Or go full tonal for that “quiet luxury” look Gold accessories elevate everything instantly Capsule Wardrobe Hack Packing? Keep it simple: 2 dresses 2 tops 1 trouser 1 layer All in mix-and-match colours. Result:Outfits for days. Suitcase still closes. Everyone wins. Final Thought Summer style shouldn’t be complicated—or sweaty. With the right natural fabrics, flattering shapes, and a bit of clever styling, you can look polished, feel comfortable, and still have room for dessert. Which, frankly, is the real goal.

The Great Dress Takeover: A Love Letter to Summer Style (and Zero Effort Chic)
Hello, hello, hello, Joanna here from Kings Road, welcoming you to another exciting episode of Style It Live - this post is a replay of our weekly Friday Style It Live Session on Facebook. Join us live every Friday at 5.30pm here If you missed last week’s Style It Live, don’t worry—we’ve got you. Think of this as your stylish little catch-up (minus the giggles, which are impossible to recreate in writing, but we’ll do our best). There’s a moment every year—usually somewhere between your second iced coffee and your first “it’s too hot for jeans”—when you realise: it’s dress season. And frankly, we’ve leaned in. Hard. Last week’s live turned into a full-blown frock fest (no regrets), and it got us thinking: dresses are basically the superheroes of your wardrobe. Minimal effort, maximum impact, and no awkward waistband negotiations after lunch. Win-win. So, if you’re wondering how to actually wear all these beauties without overthinking it, here’s your unofficial guide to looking fabulous with suspiciously little effort: But first... WATCH THE VIDEO HERE 1. Dress It Down (Yes, Even That Dress) That “too nice for daytime” dress? Pop on trainers or flip flops and suddenly you’re effortlessly cool instead of overdressed. It’s called balance. And possibly magic.       1. Dress It Down (Yes, Even That Dress) That “too nice for daytime” dress? Pop on trainers or flip flops and suddenly you’re effortlessly cool instead of overdressed. It’s called balance. And possibly magic.     3. Prints = Personality (Without Saying a Word) Big, bold prints are doing the talking this summer. Think Amalfi Coast energy without the airfare. Keep accessories simple and let the dress be the main character.   4. Shape Matters (But Not in a Scary Way) Floaty A-lines, column shapes, ruched waists—there’s no one “right” silhouette. The trick? Try a few. The one that makes you go, “oh hello…” is the one.   5. Scrunch, Pack, Go If it can be rolled into a tiny suitcase sausage and still look amazing—buy it. Holiday dressing should not involve ironing. Ever.   Final Boutique Wisdom Honestly, the best styling trick? Feeling good. If you love it, it shows. If it has pockets… even better. So whether you’re a lifelong dress devotee or just dipping your toe (in a very chic sandal), consider this your sign. The sun is shining, the dresses are calling, and your wardrobe is ready for a glow-up. Join us live every Friday at 5.30pm here If you missed last week’s Style It Live, don’t worry—we’ve got you. Think of this as your stylish little catch-up (minus the giggles, which are impossible to recreate in writing, but we’ll do our best). Let’s be honest. Summer dressing sounds easy… until you’re actually doing it. Too hot. Too clingy. Too creased. Too “why did I buy this?” Enter Blueberry—quietly solving all of that with linen that behaves, shapes that flatter, and pieces that don’t require emotional support to wear. But first... WATCH THE VIDEO HERE 1. The Trouser That Doesn’t Betray You A good summer trouser is rare. Too tight? No.Too baggy? Also no.Too complicated? Absolutely not. These are: pull-on (already winning) flat-front (flattering) with just enough give to remain friends with you after lunch Styling tip:Pair with a slightly shorter or layered top to balance proportions—and avoid looking like you’ve disappeared into fabric.   2. Layering… Without Overheating British summer = commitment issues. These pieces are perfect for that awkward “is it warm or not?” phase. Styling tip: Add a lightweight knit or linen jacket now Strip it back later when the sun decides to stay Choose breathable fabrics so you don’t regret your life choices       3. Colour, But Calm About It You don’t need to become a completely different person to wear colour. Blueberry does it well: soft navy silvers whites and “fango” (mud… but chic) Styling tip:If in doubt: one statement colour everything else neutral Instantly pulled together.     4. Texture Does the Heavy Lifting If you’re not into bold prints—texture is your best friend. Embroidery, layering, soft weaves—it adds interest without shouting. Styling tip:Stick to tonal outfits (same colour family) but mix textures to avoid looking flat.     5. Accessories That Actually Help Not all accessories are created equal. These ones are: lightweight easy not trying too hard Styling tip:Add one: necklace scarf sunglasses Stop there. You’re done. 6. Shoes You Can Live In If you can’t walk in them, they’re decorative. And we’re not doing decorative suffering. Styling tip: flats, sliders, or low sandals neutral tones = maximum wear metallic = instant polish   Final Boutique Wisdom This is one of those collections that quietly fixes your wardrobe.
