And then there are clothes that make it look like you’ve made an effort without actually making much effort at all. Hello, NAYA. This week on Style It Live, we spent a good chunk of the evening exploring the latest NAYA collection – and it turns out that comfort, clever design and looking fabulous can happily live together. Who knew? WATCH STYLE IT LIVE HERE So, what makes NAYA so good? If you know NAYA, you’ll know that it’s rather brilliant at relaxed dressing. The shapes are easy, the fabrics are wonderfully wearable and there’s always something interesting going on – a clever pocket, an unexpected texture, a great neckline or an unusual silhouette. And, importantly, the clothes don’t look like you’ve simply decided to stay in your pyjamas all day. Although they can be almost as comfortable.   Black meets chocolate NAYA has traditionally been known for its black-based winter collections, but this season there’s a beautiful chocolate colour joining the party. And we’re very happy about it. Black and chocolate together is one of those combinations that just works. It feels autumnal without being predictable and gives your wardrobe something a little different without requiring a complete personality transplant. One of our favourite looks combined a black jersey top with chocolate and black tech-fabric pieces, finished with a fabulous two-tone snood. The snood itself cleverly mixes the two colours, so you can show as much black or chocolate as you fancy. Very clever. Very NAYA.   The trousers you’ll actually want to live in The NAYA tech fabric is another reason we love the collection. It’s soft, comfortable, easy to wear and easy to look after – basically ticking quite a lot of boxes before we’ve even got to the styling. This season we’ve got the iconic narrower cuffed trouser, which gives a lovely streamlined silhouette, as well as a new, much wider barrel-leg shape. The new style has a more exaggerated horseshoe silhouette with pleat detailing and an elasticated waist. Because apparently trousers can be both stylish and forgiving. We approve. And if wide legs aren’t your thing, the narrower cuffed shape is still very much here for you.       Layering made easy NAYA is also brilliant for layering. We showed a simple jersey T-shirt topped with one of the collection’s easy popover pieces. With its stand-up cowl neck, zip details and soft textured fabric, it instantly gives a simple outfit a little more interest. It’s one of those pieces you can just pop over a T-shirt and suddenly feel like you’ve actually styled your outfit. No complicated outfit planning required. Job done.   Luxe lounging, but make it NAYA And that really sums up what we love about this collection. NAYA is perfect for those days when you want to be comfortable but still look pulled together. Working from home? Yes. Weekend wandering? Absolutely. Lunch with the girls? Definitely. Sofa, slippers and a serious commitment to doing absolutely nothing? Also yes. And when someone unexpectedly rings the doorbell? You’re already dressed. That’s the beauty of it. Our favourite bit? The fact that you don’t have to buy a whole new wardrobe to make NAYA work. The pieces are designed to mix, match and layer, so you can wear them in lots of different ways. Pair the tech trousers with a simple top. Add a textured layer. Throw on the two-tone snood. Mix black with chocolate. Change the shoes and you’ve changed the mood. It’s easy dressing, but never boring dressing. And we think that’s a pretty good combination. (Debate rages. We did not resolve it. We did, however, manage to style an entire autumn wardrobe in between tangents, so let's call it a win.) Here's what actually happened, minus the Hogwarts detour, plus the styling tips you came for WATCH THE VIDEO HERE   The brief: gentle autumn, not full hibernation It's been that kind of changeable British week — cardigan at breakfast, sweating by lunch, back in a coat by 4pm — so this week's Style It Live wasn't about the big coats and the proper knits. Those are coming. It was about lightweight layers you can throw on now: the jackets, the gilets, the just-thick-enough jumpers that ease you in before the serious coziness of full winter arrives. Consider it a wardrobe warm-up lap.   Look 1: The Gateway Barrel Jean Start here if you've never worn a barrel-leg jean and are nervous about "volume." The Red Button Caitlyn is the least intimidating version — it moves around the leg but tapers at the ankle, so you get the modern, elongating silhouette without feeling like you're wearing two duvets. Rolled up with trainers now, swapped for boots later — one jean, two seasons. Layered underneath: a crisp white shirt, a cropped roll-neck jumper, and a reversible sherpa jacket that's fooling absolutely no one about being "not waterproof" but is extremely good at looking like it should be. We won't tell you what it is. Somewhere between "Voldemort" and "trade secret," this brand has achieved the rare feat of being sold out purely by word of mouth and a strict policy of Not Telling. What we can tell you: the O-shaped barrel jean paired with it (Rafaella Rossi, £159–£179) is the most flattering thing on the rail if you're long-legged, tapering in dramatically at the ankle for a directional, slightly-too-cool-for-school finish. Turn them up over boots and let the camel trim do the talking. Tip: high-waisted, stretchy denim exists now. You are allowed to stop wearing jeans that dig in. This is legally a human right in 2026. Underneath, a silky blouse that can go from desk to dinner without you having to change, which is the entire dream of transitional dressing summed up in one £39.95 top. Tip: gold accessories + pointed pumps instantly "elevate" an outfit — dressmaker code for "looks fancier than the 45 seconds of effort it actually took." Both in soft grey-black, both entirely huggable, both photographing better in person than on camera — you'll have to trust us on this one. Tip: when everything's the same tonal family, texture does the work colour usually does. It’s a German brand with a wonderfully relaxed, contemporary feel - think beautiful fabrics, clever little details and clothes that are incredibly easy to wear. And because we’re only just edging our way out of summer, it’s the perfect collection for this slightly awkward bit between seasons when you don't quite know whether to reach for sandals or knitwear! WATCH THE VIDEO HERE   Chocolate Brown Is Having a Moment If you’ve been anywhere near a fashion magazine lately, you’ll know that chocolate brown is having a very big moment for AW26. Smith & Soul has embraced it beautifully, but rather than making it feel heavy or overly autumnal, they’ve mixed it with soft pinks, creams, blues, olive and toffee. Our favourite styling trick? Try chocolate brown with pink for an instant lift, or pair it with denim for something wonderfully easy. Brown and blue might not have been an obvious combination once upon a time, but trust us — it works.     Start With Denim One of the easiest ways to introduce Smith & Soul into your wardrobe is with denim. The oversized, boxy denim jacket is a particular favourite, with its gorgeous chocolate embroidery and lovely swing shape. Throw it over a T-shirt now, then layer it over a knit or shirt when the weather cools. And don't forget the brown denim — a soft barrel shape looks fabulous with the collection's chocolate stripes and pinks. Styling tip: if you're wearing a wider-leg or barrel-shaped trouser, try a top that finishes around the waist or hip to keep your proportions balanced.           The Art of Layering The beauty of Smith & Soul is that so many of the pieces can be worn in layers. The little boxy T-shirts work beautifully underneath jackets, while the lightweight shirts can be worn buttoned up, open over a simple top or tucked into trousers.
