As a family business, Kings Road Fashions has served the ladies of Leighton Buzzard and surrounding villages for four decades and we're ready to celebrate in style. We are hosting a number of events and promotions over the coming months to mark this special achievement.  We will be hosting in store events, doing daily promotions and are running a special prize draw giving away a £250 shopping spree to one lucky winner. A true success story. Did you know?? The boutique was founded in 1982, originally in Market Square, and latterly in Peacock Mews and has been the go-to dress shop for the style conscious women of Leighton Buzzard. A family run business, with Sue and Jo, two stylish sisters fronting the shop for many years and which was later expanded by Sues daughter Joanna with a second boutique in Woburn Sands.  Reaching this milestone is such a proud moment, especially considering the challenges of the last few years. There were difficult times in 2020. During the pandemic the shop had to close and rely on business generated through Facebook and the website. However, with a loyal customer base willing to adapt to this new technology, the shop managed to continue trading. We were so lucky to have survived. They were the most difficult times in the business that I've ever know. We are so grateful for our loyal customers who kept us going. I appreciate that so many of you wanted us to stay in business for when restrictions eased. I'm pleased to say, once we could reopen you soon flooded back!!  Never afraid to try new things, we navigated the challenge of translating a very personal face-to-face business to an online world. It took a lot of effort, Joanna began to do 'live shopping' on Facebook and built an e-commerce website from scratch. These were things we never thought we'd do, but they are very popular and now form a core part of our business. We still do regular lives and online shopping events and our website is going from strength to strength. The secret of our success is down to the very personal service we provide. We love the interaction. It's what lights us up. We love to get to know our customers and what they like so then we can find just the right things to suit you. Going that extra mile makes all the difference.  A long standing customer sent the business a message, which sums up the views of many of the regular clientele. "In 1982 a new shop opened that caught my eye. Different than the chain store offerings and with two lovely girls running the boutique who put me straight at ease. Sue and the team have always found me something to feel good in over the years. Where else would I go for a great chat, with honest friendly advice and come out with a bagful of glorious clothes, shoes, bags and jewellery. I can’t believe that 40 years later you are still in tune with all my clothing whims and needs!" Our core focus is on modern womenswear with a point of difference. With a focus on original styles, of great quality yet very wearable. Most of the stock is sourced from Europe, from brands with an effortless style. Complimented with a range of fashion accessories, jewellery, handbags and footwear,  for a true 'boutique' experience. At the start of 2021, we expanded our offering to provide lifestyle and gift lines. With the website going well and an emerging trend for customers looking for original lifestyle products, the team sourced a range of brands which fitted their ethics. Many of the brands are small UK based designers, or companies with strong sustainability or social enterprise elements. It's important for us to build a business that gives back to our local community and to support the wider community too. We like to work with brands that tell a story and are working to make a difference in their part of the world too.
