Five ways to clear your mind on World Mental Health Day

Five ways to clear your mind on World Mental Health Day

Let's face it, we've all had a bit of a time of it lately.. and sometimes things just get too much. Sunday sees World Mental Health Day and it's a good time to remind ourselves to check in on how we are really feeling.

Our lives are so busy that often we don't even notice that things are getting on top of us. A great idea is to do a quick assessment of how you feel. Check in with your body and watch out for the signs that you need to take a little time out for yourself. Are you feeling more tired, getting irritable or noticing increased negative thoughts of worry and stress? Then it's time to take a little break for yourself.

Wellness and self-care feature highly in our lifestyle collections here at Kings Road. Here are our top suggestions for how to take a little extra care of yourself this weekend.

1. Treat yourself to a mini-facial

We work with MODM, a beauty and body care collection made with all natural ingredients. Their ethos focuses around making self-care a ritual. Treating yourself with love and care and making you feel special. Self-care is not an indulgence. You deserve to be looked after. So why not plan a mini-facial with their glorious product range.

In the collection you can enjoy an award winning face-mask with rosehip and ginseng for firming and lifting effects. Their Vitamin Repair Facial Oil is blended with sweet orange and rosehip oil. Packed with vitamins and nutrients to improve the condition of your skin. The MODM founder draws on her years of experience to create the perfect experience of a salon facial at home. For a real treat, combine the oil with the Jade Facial Stone for a blissful, rejuvenating experience.

2. Mindful Moments

Switch off from distractions for a few moments. Turn off the TV and take time to do a mindful activity. Creative activities, writing in a journal, reading a good book or doing a puzzle are fantastic ways to turn down the noise and free your mind. We work with Art & Fable a quality jigsaw company who produce puzzles combining beautiful illustrations and forgotten fables. We have three new designs just added to our online shop. We also have some beautiful journals in store for your mindful scribing.

3. Cleanse and relax

Time for tea. Our selection of natural herbal teas by Asmi Ayurveda are designed to support your body and mind. The 'Purify' tea is great to detox, can help with inflammation and the effects of colds. The 'Relax' tea combines chamomile, lemon, rose, peppermint and fennel to sooth your senses and have a calming effect. We have just got in some beautiful tea infusers from Viva Scandinavia. Choose the Tea Egg for a single cup or the Infusion glass and oak teapot (above) which is perfect for two.

We suggest drawing a warm bath and adding one of our organic bath bombs loaded with essential oils by Organic Essentials. Take your tea with you and soak away all your troubles.

4. Time in nature

Take yourself out for a long walk in nature. Along the canal, in your local woods or nature reserve to feel like you're really getting away from it all. Autumn is the perfect time to enjoy the changing views, and appreciate how the low sun casts a whole new light on the landscape. We have the perfect boots in for walking just arrived from Legero.. in two colours (ppictured below in silver) and Goretex finished for practicality!

5. Mindful Meditation

Find some quiet and comfortable place to quieten your mind. Pull on some luxuriously soft loungewear or PJs and light a candle. Soften your gaze as you watch the candle flame flicker and soak up the relaxing fragrance. Allow all your  senses to take in the experience and let your thoughts pass through like drifting clouds. If you choose, you can close your eyes and take some long deep breaths. Follow your breath as it enters your nostrils and flows in and out. Even 5 minutes of mindful breathing works amazingly, calming and relaxing you.

Our new collection of candles.. coming soon!!!
