It's been so exciting to be in the shops for the last few months. We have received so much new stock, it's been tricky to keep on top of it all!! We have so much to tell you about, the only question is where to start. Subscribers to our mailing list will have heard of two of our new fashion collections, B Yu from Italy and JC Sophie from Amsterdam. Both have some of the most beautiful knitwear pieces, and as the weather is finally showing signs of turning, they would be worth exploring before it's all gone!!
We have also just received two deliveries of gorgeous handbags from Owen Barry and Abbaccino. There are some lovely choices of styles in a range of Autumn colours from both ranges, plus check out some great gift ideas including cute purses from Abbaccino.
PLUS we have some much beautiful jewellery this season. It's been so popular this year that we keep selling out of certain lines, but don't worry, we will be continuing to top up between now and Christmas so keep popping in.
If you ever need any further information about any of the products we sell, please find our details on the contact page and get in touch.

We have lots of lovely items which will be ideal for now and many will also to take you through to the early Autumn before the really autumnal clothing starts to arrive.

This is going to be a season to remember. I hope you have been delighted with everything you've had so far and got plenty of use out of it. There is still time to get more and I hope that you will call in to top up with a few more items while the sale lasts.
I find shopping for clothes stressful
Can you believe that the majority of our customers would say that they actually dislike shopping. And by that, I mean the conventional method for finding clothes.. There are the rare few who enjoy nothing more than spending a large portion of their spare time going to shopping centres and department stores, wandering from shop to shop, rail to rail, searching for the perfect dress, maybe trying on five or six items.. and then going back to the very first shop to get the one they initially tried on. There are those who take pleasure from this process. And then there is the rest of us.
So, what is it that makes shopping in your local independent boutique such a different experience? The feedback that we hear more than anything is that you get the help and advice that is so often missing from the major chain stores. It really helps to have someone make suggestions, to encourage you to try new styles or different combinations. The staff in your local boutique tend to be much better educated about their product, how items fit and of how things go together and can offer you really good ideas.
So how do you get the most out of your experience of shopping in your local boutique? There are a few key things to remember. Small boutique owners are good at tuning in to the wants and needs of their customers and are great problem solvers. Tell them what you are looking for but try to keep an open mind. Be prepared to try things on even if you don’t think something will suit you. It is often a key part of the process to find out what works.
Stay open to moving out of your comfort zone and try things that you would not normally consider. Trust that no boutique owner wants you to feel pressurised and won’t try to make you buy something that you don’t feel comfortable in. They only want you to look and feel great. At the end of the day you are the best advert for them, if you have a good experience and find something lovely you’ll be sure to tell your friends.
For us, the 'why' behind what we do is you.
I realise that I often use the blog to share information about our products and new collections. I guess I thought that I know why people come to our business and are here because they are interested in what's new in store. But what I have just considered is, that for some people who are just discovering our shops, what we sell may be less important to them than who we are and the 'why' behind the 'what'. I love the testimonials on our home page from many of our loyal customers, who say that some of the most important factors about shopping with Kings Road are the experience, the service they receive and how we make them feel. And creating this ethos has always truly been what we are all about. For us, the 'why' behind what we do is you. The lovely products help of course, but that's not the whole story of really what drives us.
It's important to realise that the products aren't there by chance. The process involved in researching, sourcing and choosing exactly what is on offer in our shops takes a great number of months and we invest a lot of time into choosing thing that we think you will love. One of the most important things I have come to understand about this industry is that it is impossible to choose what you think will be appreciated by your customers, unless you know who your customers actually are. This then feeds into our buying decisions and we often find that we are driven by a desire to find something that will excite our customers. When making our buying decisions, we try hard to seek new brands or within our existing collections we seek looks and new ideas. We get excited when we feel we've curated a collection that is really going to please you and can't wait to come back and tell you about it.
For us this is a two-way relationship and we are always open to hearing from you. So if you have any ideas for us, something you've seen that you think we'd like or any problems you have that you think we can solve, please do let us know. We are always looking for new ways to bring more happiness into your lives.
We love to be able to support our local charities and what better way to do it than by eating cake! We hosted a "Time for Tea" fundraiser for Willen Hospice last year and had a fantastic response. We were so grateful for your generosity and were able to raise lots of money for the charity. So we have decided to do host another event next Friday morning, 18th May, again at the Woburn Sands shop.
There will be a selection of delicious cakes, tea and coffees on tap and we will sell raffle tickets with the chance to win a range of prizes including a Kings Road Voucher worth £100.
We will be hosting the event between 10am and 12pm, however, as anyone who came last year would know, we were still selling cakes much later into the day.. so it's until stocks last but come early for the pick of the bunch!!!!
If you have any questions about the event, please contact Debbie on 01908 585587. Likewise if you have anything you would like to donate for our raffle, we would be incredibly grateful.. the more prizes we have the more money we will raise.
Looking forward to seeing many of you there,
Softly draping fabrics and unstructured shapes. Combining stone and black, checks and solid. Mix and match all the shapes and layer up to create your own look. Mama b, from Italy has just arrived in the Woburn Sands shop.
The Dress Edit
A summer dress is one of the key items to invest in at the start of the season. Whether for home or for holidays, casual or for events, there are a fantastic selection of dresses to choose from this season.
There are many colours on offer, ranging from soft neutrals to bright summer shades. Blue remains popular in many ranges due to its wearability, and you can expect to find everything from classic navy to pretty denim blue tones. Coral reds, lemons and khaki feature, as well as turquoise, grey and monochrome. There truly is something for everyone this year.
The trend for prints which we have seen in previous seasons, is not going away any time soon either. Botanical prints, geometric designs and stripes feature heavily again this spring.
We are delighted to see dresses with a little sleeve, or sleeveless dress with a coordinating jacket or knit. This makes it easier to get these dresses on earlier in the season and deals with many women’s concerns about covering up.
When you have a special event or occasion to shop for it is often a dress that comes to mind. We try to stock a selection of dresses which can be dressed up for the event and then worn again afterwards. These sorts of styles often work in all situations from the summer garden party to a birthday celebration meal.
Here at Kings Road, we stock some fantastic brands and can offer a beautiful dress from nearly all of them. Ranges such as Pomodoro, Ilse Jacobsen, Adini and Zilch are strong dress collections and have a good choice of styles. We also have some unique and individual styles from our other favourite brands such as Sahara, Sandwich, Vetono and Masai.
Welcome to our latest article from the Bee Local magazine.
Step into Spring
The birds are twittering outside. The warmth of the sun’s rays challenges the brisk cold air. This time of year is one of my favorites. I love it when the new Spring collections start to arrive as they bring light and colour back to the shop floor, and with them the promise of the warm weather to come.
This Spring, fashion delivers pretty pastels, with rose pinks, pale blues and aqua plus elegant silver creating a delicate combination. By contrast, expect to find stronger pinks and coral reds set against navy and cream offering a more definite colour palette.
Prints are still key, with geometric designs and diffused florals remaining popular.
Spring knitwear layered over a blouse works well as a transitional look, adding a certain softness to the top half, whilst still allowing jeans and ankle boots to keep you warm to your toes.
This is a great time to focus on spring jackets, be they denim, leather or jersey. We are loving this denim jacket by Sandwich with a contemporary sleeve detail. Check out the latest Ilse Jacobsen spring coats which are breathable, yet wind and rain proof with a soft micro fleece lining. They are our top choice for functional yet stylish outerwear, all in great colours to compliment the season.
