5 top tips when packing for a city break
I've just returned from a couple of days in the beautiful city of Bath. It's a stunning city with lots of fabulous shops and restaurants. If you're planning to head there any time soon, get in touch and I can definitely recommend a few nice places to eat and drink..!!
Here are my top tips for effortless packing...
4. Get your bag right
As far as I'm concerned there's nothing more important than having the right bag when exploring a city. There's the 'pack it all in' oversized shopper or the cross your body 'hands free' style. The shopper works so well during the day when you might be carrying any number of 'essential items' such as sunglasses and hat (hopefully), maybe a small jacket and any of those impulse purchases you've found on your travels. Then there's the smaller, cross body style or maybe backpack, which keeps your valuable personal possessions close at hand but your hands free for taking snaps or for handling a cocktail!
5. Get it covered with the jacket
Obviously, you hope you won't need to think about this too much, but if you've checked the weather forecast and it's a bit uncertain, then you will need to pack something just in case. Ideally choose something light and not too bulky. A lightweight rain mac, leather jacket or even a relaxed style in linen can work so well. Don't bring anything that your not happy to pop in your bag or sling over your arm if the sun does decide to shine!!
I know it doesn't necessarily feel like it but yes Spring is here. Even if the sky is grey, your hands are cold and the wind is whipping around your hair giving new meaning to the phrase "up-do", it's time to prepare for the new season. We are so excited to be sharing some images from this glorious collection with you.

"It's always a great time to push your boundaries..."
Who doesn't love a sale..? Right now at Kings Road we have reductions on all clothing and footwear.
Shop now for 25% OFF the original price. Find yourself something lovely and save at the same time.
One of the great things about Sale time is, it's always a great time to push your boundaries... Maybe try on something different from what you might usually wear, or play with more creative designs. You can have fun with it and there's no pressure to buy if it doesn't feel right. However, it is great to keep moving your look forward and the best way to do this is to let go of preconceived ideas and most importantly have fun with it.
Ask the shop assistants for any advice or their suggestions and keep an open mind. If you try it and it doesn't suit, you've lost nothing but if you find that little surprise look that you didn't think you could wear, it might lift you up just that little bit more and open your mind to new ideas...
Fashion is always moving forward. We are great believers that you don't need to be slaves to fashion or try to look like everyone else. However, keeping your look refreshed with contemporary elements keeps you looking current. Style is not the same as fashion. You don't have to try hard to be someone you're not but it's always good to try to find clothes that make you feel like yourself, and make you feel great..

It's been so exciting to be in the shops for the last few months. We have received so much new stock, it's been tricky to keep on top of it all!! We have so much to tell you about, the only question is where to start. Subscribers to our mailing list will have heard of two of our new fashion collections, B Yu from Italy and JC Sophie from Amsterdam. Both have some of the most beautiful knitwear pieces, and as the weather is finally showing signs of turning, they would be worth exploring before it's all gone!!
We have also just received two deliveries of gorgeous handbags from Owen Barry and Abbaccino. There are some lovely choices of styles in a range of Autumn colours from both ranges, plus check out some great gift ideas including cute purses from Abbaccino.
PLUS we have some much beautiful jewellery this season. It's been so popular this year that we keep selling out of certain lines, but don't worry, we will be continuing to top up between now and Christmas so keep popping in.
If you ever need any further information about any of the products we sell, please find our details on the contact page and get in touch.

I find shopping for clothes stressful
Can you believe that the majority of our customers would say that they actually dislike shopping. And by that, I mean the conventional method for finding clothes.. There are the rare few who enjoy nothing more than spending a large portion of their spare time going to shopping centres and department stores, wandering from shop to shop, rail to rail, searching for the perfect dress, maybe trying on five or six items.. and then going back to the very first shop to get the one they initially tried on. There are those who take pleasure from this process. And then there is the rest of us.
So, what is it that makes shopping in your local independent boutique such a different experience? The feedback that we hear more than anything is that you get the help and advice that is so often missing from the major chain stores. It really helps to have someone make suggestions, to encourage you to try new styles or different combinations. The staff in your local boutique tend to be much better educated about their product, how items fit and of how things go together and can offer you really good ideas.
So how do you get the most out of your experience of shopping in your local boutique? There are a few key things to remember. Small boutique owners are good at tuning in to the wants and needs of their customers and are great problem solvers. Tell them what you are looking for but try to keep an open mind. Be prepared to try things on even if you don’t think something will suit you. It is often a key part of the process to find out what works.
Stay open to moving out of your comfort zone and try things that you would not normally consider. Trust that no boutique owner wants you to feel pressurised and won’t try to make you buy something that you don’t feel comfortable in. They only want you to look and feel great. At the end of the day you are the best advert for them, if you have a good experience and find something lovely you’ll be sure to tell your friends.
For us, the 'why' behind what we do is you.
I realise that I often use the blog to share information about our products and new collections. I guess I thought that I know why people come to our business and are here because they are interested in what's new in store. But what I have just considered is, that for some people who are just discovering our shops, what we sell may be less important to them than who we are and the 'why' behind the 'what'. I love the testimonials on our home page from many of our loyal customers, who say that some of the most important factors about shopping with Kings Road are the experience, the service they receive and how we make them feel. And creating this ethos has always truly been what we are all about. For us, the 'why' behind what we do is you. The lovely products help of course, but that's not the whole story of really what drives us.
It's important to realise that the products aren't there by chance. The process involved in researching, sourcing and choosing exactly what is on offer in our shops takes a great number of months and we invest a lot of time into choosing thing that we think you will love. One of the most important things I have come to understand about this industry is that it is impossible to choose what you think will be appreciated by your customers, unless you know who your customers actually are. This then feeds into our buying decisions and we often find that we are driven by a desire to find something that will excite our customers. When making our buying decisions, we try hard to seek new brands or within our existing collections we seek looks and new ideas. We get excited when we feel we've curated a collection that is really going to please you and can't wait to come back and tell you about it.
For us this is a two-way relationship and we are always open to hearing from you. So if you have any ideas for us, something you've seen that you think we'd like or any problems you have that you think we can solve, please do let us know. We are always looking for new ways to bring more happiness into your lives.
We love to be able to support our local charities and what better way to do it than by eating cake! We hosted a "Time for Tea" fundraiser for Willen Hospice last year and had a fantastic response. We were so grateful for your generosity and were able to raise lots of money for the charity. So we have decided to do host another event next Friday morning, 18th May, again at the Woburn Sands shop.
There will be a selection of delicious cakes, tea and coffees on tap and we will sell raffle tickets with the chance to win a range of prizes including a Kings Road Voucher worth £100.
We will be hosting the event between 10am and 12pm, however, as anyone who came last year would know, we were still selling cakes much later into the day.. so it's until stocks last but come early for the pick of the bunch!!!!
If you have any questions about the event, please contact Debbie on 01908 585587. Likewise if you have anything you would like to donate for our raffle, we would be incredibly grateful.. the more prizes we have the more money we will raise.
Looking forward to seeing many of you there,
